Development of the fast, cost-effective and robust point-of-care diagnostics platform MAZER for clinical applications in infectious disease testing.
Magna Diagnostics is developing a novel PoC magnetic-bead-based diagnostic platform that is rapid, portable, easy to perform and reliable. The system consists of a single-test “disposable” and an “analyser”. The micro-fluidic disposable contains appropriate reagents such as buffer solutions, enzymes and biological marker probes such as oligonucleotides or monoclonal antibodies.
The analyser consists of the mechanic, electronic and optical components that control the processes on the microfluidic cartridge, acquires and manages the data, and displays the final results. This microfluidic device will simplify processes involving target molecule detection as well as reduce reagent consumption through use of nanoscale technology.
The MAZER platform is designed for the PoC-Testing of pathogens that cause infectious diseases, sepsis in particular. In 2020 the company started to focus on the development of easy-to-use PoC-systems in the area of respiratory diseases, in particular the detection of SARS-CoV-2 from aerosols.
